The Pelletier family has produced wines on Burgundy’s Côte d’Ôr for over 100 years in a commune of Givry known as Poncey. Henri Pelletier, passed his 18 acre domaine on to his son-in-law, Luc Hibon, in 2005 following a four year partnership that gave Luc time to get into the swing of things in his new career. Luc did not grow up in the world of viticulture but was quick to learn and embrace the philosophy of a true ‘vigneron.’ After a two year program in Beaune followed by a completion of Dijon’s ‘faculté d’oenologie’ Luc and his father-in-law were both optimistic about the direction the domaine was headed. Today, Luc produces a great lineup of multiple Givry Rouges, including a 1er Cru ‘Vigron’, a Givry Blanc as well as some superb values from his younger vines that he labels under the straight ‘Bourgogne’ appellation. For those not familiar with Givry, this an appellation known for producing great values from both the Villages and 1er Crus in a region (Burgundy) known for wines carrying hefty retail prices.
